A statewide nonprofit focused on economic development policy has presented a local business leader with a new award.

The Michigan League for Public Policy has presented Cascade Engineering founder Fred Keller with its first Corporate Crusader Award.

The award was given to recognize Keller and his company’s efforts “to promote fairness and diversity in their culture and beyond.” Cascade Engineering is a certified B Corp business, the nonprofit noted.

“Both in his work at Cascade Engineering and his creation of Talent 2025 in West Michigan, Mr. Keller knows that business plays a vital role in promoting social and policy change,” said Gilda Jacobs, president and CEO, Michigan League for Public Policy. “It starts from within at the culture of a company and their own practices, but it helps turn the tide in all of society.

“We are so grateful for all Mr. Keller and Cascade Engineering have done to promote diversity and equity, and are proud to call them a partner — and a true Corporate Crusader — in the fight for better lives for their employees and all workers and their families in Michigan.”

As part of the award, the nonprofit made a contribution to The Source in West Michigan on Keller’s behalf. The Source, his charity of choice for this designation, works to remove barriers to employment and connect people with resources to keep their jobs and take care of their families.
